New Security Measures Announced

There are proposed changes currently under discussion by the EU Commission as part of the security amendment to the current EU Community Customs Code.

These changes are being proposed to help make import and export supply chains more secure.

There are two main elements to this legislation:
1. The reporting of cargo to Customs in advance of its arrival in and departure from the Community
2. The introduction of Authorised Economic Operators (AEO)

As soon as these are ratified, WTA will be able to apply and operate under both of these safety and security measures ensuring compliance for your company.

To meet these standards, WTA will have the appropriate internal control systems and security standards in place which will be published to you.

It is expected that the new regulation will be adopted within the next 12 months. The first item is scheduled for implementation on 1st January 2007. The 1st July 2007 is the scheduled date for introduction of AEO’s.
