We have been advised by all carriers on the Far East to Europe trade that a further General Rate Increase (GRI) will be applied from 1st September.
Currently we are being advised that this will be between US $250-$300 per TEU, but as ever, we will be discussing with all carriers in order to keep an increase to a minimum.
Although volumes are still down on the same period in 2008, due to the reduction of tonnage on the market and the peak period, space is a problem from certain origin ports in the Far East, which has led to "spot rates" increasing over the last few weeks.
