H M Revenue and Customs have advised that Sri Lanka will be withdrawn from the list of countries receiving preference under GSP+ arrangements with effect from midnight 14 August 2010. Standard GSP rates will therefore apply from 15 August 2010.  However, the 6 month lead-in time gives Sri Lanka time in which to address problems leading to the withdrawal of GSP+, and consequently there is a possibility that the decision to withdraw may be overturned.
