Air and sea gateways in Shanghai are this week being hit by major delays, inflated trucking costs and congestion as the opening of Expo 2010 looms on Saturday. Customs clearances and declarations are also being carried out with the upmost scrutiny with some shipments being detained for 24 hours longer than normal. These delays are not expected to improve for a few more days as China Customs are expected to be under staffed around labour day on 1st May.
